Clara Iannotta is a composer working at the absolute forefront of new music. Her work has been performed by groups such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Arditti Quartet and Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, to name a few. We are thrilled to announce that Clara will serve as Oerknal’s inaugural curator-in-residence, crafting a program featuring works that offer intriguing juxtapositions and contrasts with her own musical style.

Jürg Frey – a leading proponent of the Wandelweiser school of composition – creates music of fragile beauty; his sextet Grizzana presents 20 minutes of gently undulating harmonies and textures. Michelle Lou is one of the most original composers of her generation; her work Untitled (three part construction) for two found-object percussionists and cello is a brilliant and playful
exploration of raw sound. The premiere of Biome by Giulia Lorusso rounds out the program.
 

Jessica Rimondi, a visual artist based in Berlin, will design an installation to be integrated throughout the performance, creating a truly immersive and unique concert experience.
