radical, n. - one who advocates fundamental or revolutionary changes in current practices, conditions, or institutions.

Join Oerknal for a set of concerts highlighting some of the most radical and audacious composers of the last fifty years!

Featuring Mark Barden's raw and visceral Chamber for "three untrained, amplified male voices", Harry Partch's quirky Barstow - setting inscriptions scrawled on highway railings Partch found while drifting as a hobo during the Great Depression - and Ralph Shapey's uncompromisingly brash Three for Six. The centerpiece of these concerts is John Zorn's Chimeras, a monodrama for soprano and ensemble exploring an ecclectic range of emotions, textures and musical styles.

For these concerts Oerknal will be joined by video artist Chris Paul Daniels who will create a video installation that he will VJ live, acting as staging and visual counterpoint to Chimeras.
